June 2015
As we move into the heat of summer, it's easy to wish we were somewhere other than at work. I shared two tips I use when feel chained to my desk. Keeping up with my goal of inbox zero also helps.
I know many of my clients want to understand more about what exactly code well... is. It's a difficult question to answer and doing so if you aren't planning on an undergraduate degree in Computer Science is even more difficult. There’s a long history and culture to cover in order to explain what code is, today. Thankfully Paul Ford answered that question with the article What is Code?.
Arriving home from the trade show left me with fiber and textiles on my mind and that influenced the links of interest this month. I love when my interests weave together!
There were of course updates to popular WordPress plugins this month, including a few for security issues. WooCommerce was updated to 2.3.11 following an earlier in the month update to address an issue with the PayPal payment gateway. A guide to Understanding WordPress Plugin Vulnerabilities, from the great folks at Sucuri is still helpful. Several years ago I explained a bit about the whys of software updates. Yes, you should care about this even if your site is small.
Any new tech issues or questions this month? Please let me know, I'd be happy to help.
If you are overwhelmed by this monthly newsletter, there's a link at the bottom to unsubscribe. There are other ways to keep informed; the archive is accessible (there's a link at my site) and I also share the newsletter on Facebook and Twitter.
keep well,
